The word yoga often conjures up images of discomfort. Followed by thoughts of lycra and being completely inflexible often forming a barrier to participation.
Yoga literally translates as union - togetherness.
I learnt through Santosha Yoga Institute how the practise of yoga brings the mind, body and soul into harmony. With the aim of teaching being to reach chitta vritti nirodhah - quietening the fluctuations of the mind.
We are often our own worse critics. With our mind telling us we cannot do something, reminding us of times we have failed. Lessons in life are there to teach us, to enable growth, but what if they are holding us back? Preventing us from reaching our full potential from listening to the negative self talk.
I am here to inspire you to be all that you can be, physically and mentally. Through sharing yoga practise, meditation, health, fitness and wellbeing tips, and most of all reminding you of your own inner strength and resilience.
“My journey with Trish began a while ago. I was offered a job at a gym! A GYM! I am happy and honest enough to admit I am the laziest most unmotivated person to 'work out' ever. I worked within sales and everyone on the team, EVERYONE, was getting personal training. They badgered and badgered me to do the same. I thought, ‘errrr.. no.. I’m good.. thanks..’
I got to know Trish.. 'just come to body balance hun.. see how you like it.. (this was a class Trish taught) if you like it we can build around that..’
So, I did and BOOM I loved it! I thought maybe this was my thing, as I hated cardio. I did it for a few weeks and realised I could do this. I was someone who had NO fitness, no fitness knowledge and I felt really uncomfortable in a gym. Trish made me feel I could do it, reach my goals and get fit without being worried people are staring or thinking I don't know what I am doing.
I got a six pack. Mission accomplished. I reached my then goal in time for the event it was needed for, and I would not have without the constant support I from Trish. 20 years has now passed, and I have a new goal, the first person I thought of was Trish (my Trishy Trishy). I am lucky enough to call Trish a close friend as we now embark on a new journey. But as scared as I am I know I will do it because she will be there every step. Here’s to a new six pack 20 years later eeekkk.
